In November1993, Mr. Li HengDa founded Hengda Dance Academy in Seattle. It is the first professional Chinese Dance Academy established in the Pacific Northwest. Today, the Academy is located in Seattle, with a branch in Bellevue, and student enrollment has exceeded a hundred.

Most of our students come from the Greater Seattle and Bellevue area, some from as far as Tacoma and Olympia, with age ranging from 4-year-olds to adults. Our curriculum includes Chinese ethnic and folk dance, basic ballet skills, international ballroom and social dance, and aerobics. Since our founding more than 10 years ago, students have made tremendous progress in their performance. In 1995, 96, 98 and 2002, the Academy was the recipient of numerous first prize trophies at the North America Chinese Dance Contest held in Vancouver, Canada. Some senior students also received the Performance and Special Awards in their category when they participated in the 3rd Chinese Taoli Cup National Dance Competition in China.

These achievements truly reflect the excellence of our teaching. Since 1995, Hengda Dance Academy has already presented seven annual dance events and all the students have been given plenty of opportunities to express their skill and talent. Presently, one group of top-notch students has already emerged as a troupe, ready to stand on their own.  

恆達舞蹈學院於一九九三年十一月正式成立。它是美國西北地區第一所以教授中國舞蹈為主的藝術學院，主院址設在西雅圖華埠，並在表爾威等設有分院授課。 本院學員主要來自大西雅圖及表爾威地區，以及塔可瑪、奧林匹亞的華裔及美國家庭。他們從四歲到四十多歲不等。學院的訓練內容包括中國古典舞，民族、民間舞，芭蕾舞，西方代表性舞，健身韻律舞及社交舞等；設有不同年齡、不同級別的不同課程。

建校十年來，學生成績顯著，他們分別在一九九五、九六、九八、二 ○○ 二 及 ○ 四年連續於加拿大舉辦的北美洲中國舞蹈大賽中，以其優秀和整齊的陣容奪得多項大獎個人和集體大獎；九八在中國舉辦的「桃李杯」專業舞蹈大賽中也獲得殊榮；九九年有胡清雅、李卓兒、胡清菁等參加在洛杉磯舉行的「世界表演藝術冠軍杯賽」中奪得多項金、銀牌及冠軍杯。 自九五年以來，學院連續舉辦《舞之韻（一至七）系列》專場舞蹈晚會，有計劃地將學員每年的學習成績向各界匯報。一批學員的表演已日漸成熟，她們已多次參與專業演員表演的、由亞洲表演藝術劇院舉辦「華夏之舞系列」晚會的演出。眾多的學員在社區及美國主流社會的節慶表演中獨當一面，她們已陸續走上舞台，成為美國本土成長起來的一批批中國舞演員。

恆達舞院一向以教學質量優秀著稱，其教員均畢業於高等舞蹈學院，並具有豐富的教學和表演經驗。學院的宗旨是弘揚中國舞蹈文化，培育新一代接班人，使中國的傳統舞蹈文化能真正地融入西方文化藝術的發展之中。
